He shall not be afraid of evil tidings… – Psalm 112:7, Amplified Bible (AMP)

How would you like other people to observe your life and say the following things about you?

You are:

  1. Happy
  2. Fortunate
  3. Prosperous
  4. Spiritually healthy and content
  5. Recognized and remembered by others for being righteous, compassionate, and generous
  6. Brave in the midst of evil news and of evil days
  7. Steady of character, full of integrity

Such a character profile is enviable, and many, many people long to have such things in their lives. Unfortunately, many people fall short of possessing this list of blessings because they fall short of possessing the source of these blessings: a firm, unshakable relationship with God.

No doubt, there are millions of Christians alive today, and there have been billions of people who have accepted Christ as savior in the two thousand years since Christ’s crucifixion. But, all too many of these Christians have failed to apply God’s promises to every aspect of their lives. Yes, they’ve accepted the promise that grants them salvation from Hell, but they’ve not accepted the multitude of biblical promises that give them the power to escape a mediocre, empty, unfulfilling life.

Psalm 112 makes it very clear and very simple. If we want the blessings listed above, we have to joyfully trust in and apply God’s promises to our lives. And, we have to obey His commandments. If we do these things, then the enviable character above shall be ours. If we fail to do these things, we will fall short of claiming God’s complete package of blessings for our lives.
