We hope you enjoy this re-post from March 29, 2014. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team

And you and the Levite and the stranger and the sojourner among you shall rejoice in all the good which the Lord your God has given you and your household. – Deuteronomy 26:11, Amplified Bible (AMP)

For many, many Christians, God is afterthought. Their prayer life is almost non-existent. They rarely read the Bible. They may or may not attend church regularly. Even when they do go to church, half the time they are thinking about something or someone else besides God while the preaching is going on. Outside the walls of the church, they don’t consider God’s will in their day-to-day decisions, nor do they attempt to conform to God’s worldview in areas like politics, finance, vocation, etc. In short, God isn’t first in their lives. He is last, and they use Him only as a crutch for support when times get tough.

God is no crutch; He is the Cornerstone.  God is the foundation upon which every human life ought to be built, and every human life that rests on this Foundation is blessed. Of course, we can suffer very tough times, horrible persecution, and devastating events, but in the midst of even the worst circumstances, God’s blessings are there. God gives us “good,” as Deuteronomy 26:11 states, and we have an obligation to recognize Him as the source of ALL of our good. When we do, giving our firstfruits back to God for His work is easy. Giving Him our money, our time, our attention, and our love takes almost no effort at all when we realize that we have all of these things only because He has given them to us in the first place.

If you are having trouble giving your tithe, giving your time, or giving your talent to God, then God isn’t your Cornerstone. You have failed to recognize that your money, your time, and your talent have never been yours in the first place. They are God’s, and He has simply loaned them to you. It’s time to recognize the truth, and it’s time to promote God from crutch to Cornerstone. Involve Him in every aspect of your life. He deserves no less, and you can have nothing and no one better upon which to build your life.
