BEST OF TQFG: Stick to God’s blueprint and the house won’t fall down.

We hope you enjoy this re-post from June 27, 2013. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… – Genesis 1:26, KJV

God made man in His image, not the other way around. Yet, men and women everywhere are constantly fashioning a “Christianity” that fits their values rather than conforming themselves to the edicts of Christ. When they do this, they end up with broken lives, and then they turn to God and ask Him why He has allowed their lives to fall apart. The short answer is, of course, that their lives have failed because they have chosen not to build their lives according to God’s blueprint – the Bible.

When you build a house, you follow a blueprint, and there are just certain rules of construction that you must abide by. If you don’t, the house will be unstable. A foundation improperly laid, a load-bearing wall improperly constructed, or plumbing pipes poorly connected all will result in disaster at some point in the future. People who choose not to abide by God’s rules for living are doing the same thing as the builder who cuts corners while building. They cut moral corners in order to create an environment that makes them feel comfortable in their sin, but when they do so they expose themselves to disaster at some point in the future.

God is a loving God, which is why He sacrificed His Son so that all could have a chance to escape “the wrath to come.” But God is just as holy as He is loving, and “the wrath that is to come” is God’s wrath poured out on unholiness. God’s holiness requires that He judge sin, yet His love – through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross – offers a way for us to avoid that judgment by repenting of our sins and by casting all of our dependence on Christ for Heaven.

So many people create an image in their minds of a loving God that has no capacity for dishing out holy judgment. As such, they can do anything they want while still feeling good about worshiping “God.” But their version of “God” doesn’t exist, and until they exchange their imagined idol for the real thing, their lives will be broken and their eternity will be destruction.

Each and every day more people exchange the truth of God for a lie. Each and every day more people leave God’s blueprint for life behind. But, dear Christian, stand firm in the faith, even if everyone you know abandons it. On the day you stand before your Maker, He will not ask you how proficient you were at following the crowd. He will only judge you on how steadfastly you followed His Word.

As for me and my house, we will live life according to God’s blueprint. How about you?
