Run to God when you are threatened; He is your Strong Tower.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower… Proverbs 18:10, Amplified Bible

There are days when there is a battle at every turn. Although you didn’t wake up desiring to go to war, the Enemy did, and war has raged since the moment you awoke. When faced with such a day, what do you do? The answer: recognize, run, and resist.

First, recognize that you are no match for the Enemy on your own. When tempted, the average Christian relies on will power to wage the battle. That’s why the average Christian fails in most cases of temptation. Will power is no match for Satan-power; that’s just a fact, whether we like it or not. No human being has the wits or the strength to out-smart or to out-wrestle the one the Bible calls the former “anointed cherub that covereth.” (Ezekial 28:14).

Second, run to the One who does have the power to overcome the Enemy at each and every turn. Proverbs 18:10 (Amplified Bible) teaches us that, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong.” When the Enemy threatens, our first reaction ought to be to call on the name of The Lord. We should hide in His name as we would hide is a fortress, and from there we ought to…

Resist! James 4:7 teaches us, “So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.” If we stand firm on our own two feet outside the gates of the Strong Tower, the Enemy will overrun us easily. Once we are inside the gates, however, we can triumphantly resist, for the Enemy knows that he is no match for our General. Satan’s fiery darts cannot reach us once we are inside our Tower, nor can he resist the Word of God that we shoot back his way. Scripture was Christ’s weapon of choice when tempted of the Devil (Luke 4:1-13), and it must be ours as well if we hope to have victory during the next attack.

War will rage and battles will be fought. Of that, we can be assured. We can also be assured that we will be defeated if we fight our battles alone, but we will reign victorious when we resist the Enemy from within the Strong Tower that is our Savior!
