Come, let us reason together.

Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord… – Isaiah 1:18, Amplified Bible (AMP)

Imagine that you are Adam (or Eve) before The Fall. It’s a beautiful afternoon in April. The garden is blooming, the sun has assumed the rich orange of sunset, the air is perfectly cool, and peace saturates everything. After a short stroll together, you and your Creator rest on a patch of lush, green grass at the edge of the river. You talk with each other about a number of things, reasoning together about what God knows and what you ought to learn.

What a privilege it would be to sit face-to-face with God in such a setting, and what a wonder it would be to reason with Him about the deepest subjects of the universe! Believe it or not, we have such a privilege even now. Actually, our privilege may be greater than the one Adam and Eve had. Each and every time we bow to pray, and each and every time we hold the Word of God in our hands, we have the opportunity to reason in spirit with our Maker in Heaven itself.

As God (through Paul) tells us in Ephesians 2:6 (AMP):

And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Just as Christ became part of us at the moment of salvation, we became part of Him. Just as Christ dwells within us on this Earth, we dwell within Him in Heaven! Whenever we need to run from this world’s attacks – whenever we need solace in times of despair – all we need do is enter into heavenly fellowship with our Lord by reasoning with Him in spirit and in truth. As we do so, we will claim our position in Christ, which is a position far out of range of Satan’s best fiery darts.

When praying and when meditating on God’s Word, project yourself into Heaven in your mind’s eye. Indeed, that is where part of your spirit dwells anyway, so why not imagine in your mind that which your spirit already enjoys? The more time you spend in Heaven in spirit, the more like Christ you will become, and the more useful to God you will be on this planet.
