The path to living the victorious Christian life is simple: keep God’s Word. Though simple, it’s never easy, for at every turn the Enemy seeks to steal away from us the Word with which we have been entrusted. Through trial, tribulation, temptation, and terror, Satan seeks to destroy our trust in God’s promises, and when he succeeds, our Christian walk crumbles along with our faith.

When the Devil’s fiery darts approach our hearts and minds, our only defense is to run into the arms of God for protection. Thankfully, God’s arms are readily available, for as 2 Timothy 1:14 reminds us, God Himself dwells within the hearts and minds of His children.  It is up to us, however, to access His warm embrace by diving into His Word and by pleading with Him in prayer. When we do, He fills us with His presence, empowering us to face the troubles with which Satan tries to steal our joy.

When in your hour of need, remember that God Himself took residence in you at the moment you accepted Christ as Savior. In accordance with this truth, realize that Christ’s promise to never leave you nor forsake you wasn’t meant metaphorically. It was meant to state a reality, and in the reality of God’s continual presence you can take the greatest of comfort during your times of direst need.
