It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law. – Psalm 119:126, KJV

There will be times in your life when you will look at the world around you, and you will remark to yourself, “This world is so messed up, and there is nothing I can do about it!” You will be disgusted with what you observe, you will lament about the direction the world is going, and you will wallow sorrowfully in your helplessness to effect change. The funny thing is that there is at least one thing you can do about it: pray.

The psalmist of Psalm 119 did the one thing that any Christian can do when faced with a world gone mad: he called on the Lord to take matters into His own hands against those who had made His law of no effect. Of course, it is up to The Lord to answer such prayers, but Scripture is clear that God is poised to do so, as James 5:16 (AMP) attests:

Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

The context of James 5:16 is confined to a discussion about the church, but the power of the prayer of one saint is not. Throughout history, national revivals across the globe have been traced to one or more prayer warriors earnestly beseeching God to work in their land. Throughout the Bible, a myriad of verses – like Nehemiah 1:5-11, Exodus 32:10-11, 32, Psalm 106:23, and James 5:17 – teach us that God responds to the prayer of one faithful soul. And God Himself, in Ezekiel 22:30 and Isaiah 59:16, tells us that He is actively looking for someone to intercede for those who have turned their backs on Him.

The power of the One God is available to the faithful prayer warrior who regularly, wholeheartedly calls upon Him. If you decide to be one of those faithful prayer warriors, then ask God to make Himself known to those who are desperately trying to forget Him. He may or may not act in the way you hope for, but He will act, and you will get to be a part of bringing dying souls to the Creator whom they so desperately need.
