We hope you enjoy this re-post from July 16, 2014. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team
Satisfied desire is sweet to a person; therefore it is hateful and exceedingly offensive to [self-confident] fools to give up evil [upon which they have set their hearts]. – Proverbs 13:19, Amplified Bible (AMP)
2 Timothy 3:16 (AMP) states:
Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction…
Part of the instruction we get from God’s Word is that some people truly love evil as much as the Christian loves good. Proverbs 13:19 attests to this, and we see proofs of this truth each and every day.
Just yesterday, I learned of one such example. Planned Parenthood, an organization in the United States that last year received $540.6 million in U.S. taxpayer funding, is notorious for actively promoting the abortion of unborn children. Earlier this month (July 2014), several news outlets reported that the second largest Planned Parenthood office in the county recently rewarded its employees with an “award” for exceeding the office’s abortion quota. According to Breitbart.com:
Planned Parenthood claims its business is “women’s healthcare,” but its recent award certificate to a Colorado abortion clinic for “exceeding abortion visits [in the] first half of FY12 compared to the first half of FY13,” affirms that its most valued business is abortion. The Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, the second largest Planned Parenthood facility in the United States, gave the award to its Aurora abortion clinic. As CNS News.com reports, the photo of the award was taken by a former worker who saw it posted on a bulletin board in Denver that displays awards earned by satellite clinics. The award certificate confirms that Planned Parenthood clinics are given abortion “quotas” to meet and that the Aurora clinic had “exceeded” expectations.
I’ve often wondered how some people can be so driven in their pursuit of evil, but Proverbs 13:19 makes it perfectly clear. Some people are so enveloped in the devil’s lies that they perceive evil to be sweet. Their heart longs for it, and until they satisfy the desires of their heart, they cannot rest. Unlike a Christian who can only rest after godly justice has been served, such people can only rest after evil has triumphed.
Of course, we should pray that God would rescue such people from the devil’s lies. But, unless and until He does, we must oppose such people by fighting for God’s righteous ways. That is what being salt and light is all about it, isn’t it?
