Prejudice infects humanity all across the globe. Some prejudice is rooted in hatred of a different skin color. Other prejudice is grounded in jealousy of and envy for the greater wealth and social status that others have.  Still other prejudice could be tied to dislike for others’ nationalities, occupations, or appearances. The causes of prejudice are numerous, and the effect of prejudice is to divide people based on hate.  In Acts 10:28, God makes it clear that Christians are not to harbor petty prejudice in our hearts.

Had any man told Peter that he ought visit the Gentile Cornelius with the Gospel, Peter most assuredly would have refused. His deep cultural training told him that “it is not lawful or permissible for a Jew to keep company with or to visit or [even] to come near or to speak first to anyone of another nationality”. (Acts 10:28) Yet God’s perspective on the matter is quite different from man’s, which is why God instructed Peter to make first contact. God couldn’t care less about what nationality, color, or social status a person possesses. All He cares about is whether or not a person has accepted His free gift of salvation, reverentially fears Him, and worshipfully obeys Him. (Acts 10:34, 35)

On regular occasions the Holy Spirit will move you to share the Gospel with people by telling them your salvation story, by handing them a Gospel tract, or by inviting them to church. On some occasions, human prejudice may cause you to hesitate, but don’t let it. If the Spirit prompts you to share the Gospel with someone, it is because He knows that there is a soul at stake, and He is giving you the privilege of offering that soul His supernatural solution to the human problem of eternal damnation.  No matter what, don’t let human prejudice stand in the way of telling a soul how to escape never-ending torment. If the other person’s prejudice causes him or her to reject God’s offer, you’ve done your job. If your prejudice keeps the offer from being made, then that person’s blood is on your hands. (Ezekiel 33:1-6)
