We hope you enjoy this re-post from April 4, 2014. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team
In toil and hardship, watching often [through sleepless nights], in hunger and thirst, frequently driven to fasting by want, in cold and exposure and lack of clothing, – 2 Corinthians 11:27, Amplified Bible (AMP)
It’s when you are in the throws of service to God that you can expect the unrelenting attacks of Satan. The attacks can come in any number of forms, many of which occurred in the life of the Apostle Paul. For example, Paul suffered from:
- Imprisonment
- Disaster
- Physical persecution
- Hunger
- Exhaustion
- Anxiety (See 2 Corinthians 11:24-29 for all of the above)
- Betrayal
- Feelings of utter failure
- Despair
just to name a few. No matter what forms the attacks take, the common goal of the attacks is to discourage Christians from continuing their service to God. For many of us, it doesn’t take much of an attack to accomplish this goal. At the smallest sign of discomfort or inconvenience, we act like the world is ending and that there is no use going on. The problem with this line of thinking is that it is foolishly self-centered. As long as God leaves us on this planet, we have a duty to go on for Him, whether we feel like it or not. No attack of Satan – no matter how small or how large – should stop us from doing what God has called us to do. No attack of Satan can stop us so long as we fight back with the armor of God rather than in the strength of our weak, human flesh.
Chin up, my friend! You have the glorious opportunity of serving the King of Creation today! Don’t let any of the Enemy’s attempts to discourage you take you away from God’s wonderful work!
