BEST OF TQFG: (Ant University: Part 3) Teach others about God. Both you and they will benefit.

We hope you enjoy this re-post from January 3, 2013. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:19, KJV

According to Wikipedia, “…ants may be the only group apart from mammals where interactive teaching has been observed. A knowledgeable forager of Temnothorax albipennis leads a naive nest-mate to newly discovered food by the process of tandem running. The follower obtains knowledge through its leading tutor. Both leader and follower are acutely sensitive to the progress of their partner with the leader slowing down when the follower lags, and speeding up when the follower gets too close.”

There are few endeavors in life more fulfilling than being a mentor to someone else. To see someone become better at anything through your guidance is satisfying beyond measure.

Unfortunately, few of us ever enjoy this satisfaction, especially when it comes to discipling others for Christ. In Matthew 28:19, Christ commands us to “teach all nations,” which means to disciple all people-groups to be followers of Him. Yet, most Christians never take ownership of this command, instead delegating it to others, particularly preachers and missionaries.

Christ never intended to limit this command to a small pool of mentors. His command applies to us all. When was the last time you mentored a young Christian in his or her relationship with the Lord? Have you ever done so? If not, you are missing out! You are missing out not only on the blessings that come with obedience; you are also missing out on the satisfaction that comes with seeing growth in another human being – growth that you helped nurture.

It’s time to be a mentor. It’s time to make disciples. It’s time to help others to grow into better people for Christ. Find someone to disciple. Help out in children’s church. Involve yourself in Sunday School or the teen group. Be the spiritual mentor in your home that God intends you to be. Engage yourself in the lives of others, and enjoy the blessings that are sure to come!
