Be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

And the Lord your God will clear out those nations before you, little by little; you may not consume them quickly, lest the beasts of the field increase among you. – Deuteronomy 7:22, Amplified Bible

There will be times in your life when God will give you a tremendous vision. Like a movie playing in your mind’s eye, you’ll see Him call you to a work, prepare you for it, place you in it, and reward you for it. To serve the King of Creation in the manner He has shown you will be an awesome pleasure, and you won’t be able to wait to get started. But be mindful; you may not be ready for it all just yet.

In Deuteronomy 7, God was ready to send Israel into Canaan. After forty years of wilderness wandering, the Israelites were eager to claim the entire Promised Land. God warned them, however, not to be too eager. If He gave them the full inheritance at once, they would not be able to manage it, and the inheritance would be wasted. Therefore, little by little they were to inherit the promise; little by little they would gain the necessary strength and wisdom to be good stewards of the whole thing.

Think of it: God has such a huge inheritance for us that He can’t give us the entire gift at one time! He must give it to us in pieces, and with each installment He will prepare us a little more for the day when we will get to enjoy it all.

The work you’ve seen – it’s coming. Just don’t be greedy. Let The Lord give it to you one installment at a time, and patiently rejoice as He makes you a more worthy steward little by little.
