Do you like camping?
At the Lord’s command the Israelites journeyed, and at [His] command they encamped… – Numbers 9:18, Amplified Bible (AMP)
In Numbers 9, the Israelites camped or traveled when God signaled to camp or to travel. They never knew how long they would walk or how long they would stay put; they just knew that God would direct their future steps, just like He was directing their current one. Their task was to diligently perform their current duty while waiting patiently for the next, and any who didn’t wait patiently simply did not trust the God that dwelt before their very eyes.
When we worry about our future steps, we are guilty of the same lack of trust. Just as He told the Israelites when it was time to go and when it was time to stay, God will do the same for us, and He will do so clearly. When it is time to go, He will lift the cloud of confusion from your mind, making it perfectly clear that it is time to go. If He wants you to stay, you’ll know it, too, for you won’t have any peace about leaving your current duty just yet.
Just be sure you nurture your relationship with God, for it is only when you are in good standing with Him that He will make His will perfectly clear. If you value your sin over your Savior, however, then you can expect the same results you would receive from anyone that you’ve wronged: broken fellowship and total silence.
