BEST OF TQFG: Willful ignorance is no excuse before God.

We hope you enjoy this re-post from August 10, 2014. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team

He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?  A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign…  – Matthew 16:2-4a, KJV

We can be SO much like the Pharisees and Sadducees. When staring into the face of God’s Word, we don’t want to believe It, for if we do, we have to change the way we live. Yes, we know deep down in our hearts what the Word says about that sin we want so badly, but we refuse to recognize the true meaning of the Word, choosing instead to be blind to God’s way of thinking. We justify our blindness by claiming that we don’t understand God’s meaning – maybe the Bible means this or maybe it means that. So, we reverse-delegate the decision to obey by putting the responsibility on God, asking Him to send a sign from Heaven to help us understand His will. When God sends no sign, we take His inaction to mean that we can do what we want to do. If God doesn’t give us a supernatural sign that says, “Don’t!”, then it’s okay, right?

Wrong! When God hears our calls for signs to do right, He points us back to the signs He has already given us: the Bible and the witness of the Holy Spirit. Between Scripture and the Holy Spirit that dwells within us, we will know the difference between right and wrong. Therefore, our challenge is not to understand which action is holy and which one is not. Our challenge is to obey God’s call to holiness over Satan’s call to sin.

If you are justifying your sin because God hasn’t supernaturally told you to stop, beware. It’s not God’s responsibility to send you a supernatural text message about how to behave. Between His Word and the witness of the Holy Spirit that dwells within each born-again believer, you have all of the signs you need to know which choice is holy and which choice is sin.
