(Ant University: Part 4) If you go it alone, don’t expect to get very far.
I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. Numbers 11:14, KJV
According to Wikipedia, “Complex nests are built by many ants…Weaver ant (Oecophylla spp.) workers build nests in trees by attaching leaves together, first pulling them together with bridges of workers and then inducing their larvae to produce silk as they are moved along the leaf edges.” (See a picture by clicking on the following URL: http://tinyurl.com/3uroa8h)
Do you feel as if God has called you to some great work, but you have been frustrated in the attainment of it? Do you work and sweat and toil, but you never seem any closer to the vision than when you first saw it on the mountaintop?
There are many reasons why this may be so for you, but one possible reason is this: you have failed to engage other people to help you reach your goal. Just as the Weaver ant would never have a nest unless it worked with other ants to construct it, we will not achieve what God would have us achieve if we pursue the work solely with our own two hands.
Even Moses had not the ability to accomplish the goal God had appointed him: the shepherding of the nation of Israel. “I am not able to bear all this people alone,” Moses cried unto God, “because it is too heavy for me.” Did God pick the wrong guy to take care of his people? Of course not! God knew exactly what He was doing when He chose Moses to lead His people. But, God wanted Moses to learn a valuable lesson: he needed the help of other people to accomplish the work that God had given him… and so do you and I.
Are you a loner? Do you tend to bear alone the weight of everything on your shoulders? Stop it! Pray that God would introduce you swiftly to the people He would have you work alongside of. Then, strive together daily towards the vision that God has set before you!
