We hope you enjoy this re-post from February 1, 2014. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team
And the foremen said to them, The Lord look upon you and judge, because you have made us a rotten stench to be detested by Pharaoh and his servants and have put a sword in their hand to slay us. – Exodus 5:21, Amplified Bible (AMP)
After delivering God’s “Let my people go!” message to Pharaoh, Moses didn’t immediately become the Hebrews’ hero; he became the object of their wrath. Suffering more and more under the grievous hand of Pharaoh, the Hebrews were angry at Moses for making Pharaoh angry with them. When Moses turned to God and basically said, “This isn’t working,” God responded in Exodus 6:1, “…Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for [compelled] by a strong hand he will [not only] let them go, but he will drive them out of his land with a strong hand.” Next came God’s wonders, and then came Israel’s deliverance from Egypt.
Sometimes doing what God tells us to do makes us unpopular because doing what God tells us to do may make things worse before they get better. When we don’t immediately see positive results from our service to God, we naturally question what we’re doing, just as Moses did. And, just as Moses did, we can go to The Lord to seek reassurance that we are on the right path. But we need to be prepared for the inevitable: if God made it crystal clear that we were to walk the path we are now walking for Him, God will make it crystal clear that we are to stay the course even though the course isn’t currently very comfortable.
As Revelation 2:7 reminds us, God favors those of His children who endure until the end. When things get tough along the path God has set us on, our part is to make the decision to endure. God’s part is to provide us with the power to live out that decision, and He will absolutely supply that power, if we will but ask Him for it.
