BEST OF TQFG: Spit in the face of God?

We hope you enjoy this re-post from January 8, 2015. Be blessed! The Today’s Quote From God Team

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. – Proverbs 21:23, KJV

I’ve seen it, and you probably have, too. Some brothers and sisters verbally abuse each other constantly. Every now and then, it can get quite nasty! But woe be to anyone outside of the family who says anything ill of those brothers and sisters! Should anyone dare to threaten the reputation or integrity of one sibling, the other siblings will rush to the rescue, seeking retribution against the offender who impugned the good name of the family!

If you have the bad habit of speaking ill of others, you’d better stop. As Proverbs 21:23 indicates, trouble eventually finds those with a sharp tongue. But if you speak ill of Christians, this warning is even more worthy of heeding. Why? Because when you pick on one of God’s children, you’re picking on the family name. God will sooner or later seek retribution against those who don’t respect the family name, and being a target of God’s chastisement is never a pleasant position to be in.

Another thing to consider is this: the Holy Spirit indwells the Christian the moment the Christian accepts Jesus Christ as Savior. (See 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19, 2 Corinthians 13:5, Romans 8:9.) In essence, the believer and God become one (See John 17:21). So, when you gossip about or insult one of His children, you are gossiping about or insulting God directly. Again, not a pleasant position to be in.

Are you spitting in the face of God? You are if you cast verbal abuse or gossip at His children. Time to stop the potty mouth, and time to start respecting God’s people for who they are: representatives of God on Earth.
